🎮 How to Play

New to Tongits? Here's How the Game Works

Tongits is a rummy-style card game for 3 players. The goal is to get rid of all your cards — or have the lowest hand value when someone calls a draw. Here's the quick guide.

1
Each Player Gets 13 Cards

The dealer gets 13 cards; the other two players get 12 each. One card starts the discard pile. The dealer goes first.

2
Draw, Meld, or Discard

On your turn, draw from the pile or take the top discard. Then optionally lay down melds (sets or sequences), and discard one card to end your turn.

3
Tongits or Fight

Play all your cards to declare Tongits and win instantly. Or call a "Fight" (draw) to compare hand values — the player with the lowest total wins the pot.

4
Win Real PHP on Jili Up

Win the round and collect the pot straight to your Jili Up balance. Cash out to GCash or Maya anytime — no minimum required to withdraw.

🏆 Hand Rankings

Melds and Winning Hands

Understanding your melds is the key to winning in Tongits. Here's a quick breakdown of valid combinations and how they affect your score.

#1
Tongits (Burn Out)

Play all 13 cards in valid melds and discard your last card. Instant win — no fight needed. The highest-value move in the entire game.

Instant Win 🏆
#2
Sagasa (Forced Win)

If you've melded all your cards and a player calls a Fight, you automatically win — regardless of the other players' hand totals.

Auto-Win ✅
#3
Three of a Kind (Set)

Three cards of the same rank — e.g., three Aces or three Kings. A strong meld that drops your hand value by the card values removed.

-3 cards from hand
#4
Four of a Kind

All four cards of the same rank laid together. Clears four cards from your hand in one go — a huge swing in your favour.

-4 cards from hand
#5
Sequence (Run)

Three or more consecutive cards of the same suit. E.g., 5♠ 6♠ 7♠. Can be extended by adding the next card in the run on future turns.

3–13 card runs
#6
Fight (Draw Call)

Any player can call Fight (except one who just drew). All players reveal hand totals — face cards = 10, Ace = 1, others = face value. Lowest wins.

❓ FAQ

Questions from Tongits Players

Yes — the rules on Jili Up follow the standard Filipino Tongits format. Three players, 13 cards to the dealer and 12 to each other, standard meld types (sets and runs), and the same Fight mechanic you'd use at home. We've kept the game authentic so it feels familiar from the very first hand.

New Jili Up players can join practice tables to get comfortable with the online format before committing real pesos. Practice tables don't require a deposit and let you learn the timing and interface at your own pace. When you're ready, just switch to a real-money table.

Jili Up charges a small rake — typically 3–5% of the pot — capped at a maximum per hand. The rake goes to the house, and the rest of the pot goes to the winner. Exact rake percentages are shown at each table before you sit down, so there are no surprises.

Jili Up has a reconnection system — if you drop mid-game, you have 60 seconds to rejoin before the system plays your turn automatically using a safe default action. Your chips and hand state are preserved so you don't lose your stack just because of a connection issue.

Yes! Jili Up runs daily Tongits sit-and-go tournaments and weekly guaranteed prize pool events. Entry fees start from ₱50, and prizes reach ₱25,000 and above for the bigger weekly events. Check the lobby regularly for the latest schedule.

You can deposit using GCash, Maya, GrabPay, Coins.ph, InstaPay, BDO, BPI, UnionBank, or Visa/Mastercard. Minimum deposit is ₱100. Withdrawals go back to your GCash or Maya wallet and typically complete within 3–5 minutes. All transactions are in Philippine Pesos with no conversion fees.

📖 About Tongits

The Heart and Soul of Filipino Card Culture

Ask any Filipino what card game they grew up with, and the answer almost always comes back to Tongits. It doesn't matter where you're from — Luzon, Visayas, or Mindanao — the game is part of the fabric of Filipino life. You'll find it being played at family reunions, on the sidewalk, during fiestas, and in practically every workplace break room in the country.

What makes Tongits special compared to other card games is the combination of strategy and psychology. It's not pure luck — you need to read your opponents, decide when to meld and when to hold back, and judge the right moment to call a Fight. A player who understands the card mathematics and watches their opponents carefully will consistently outperform someone just playing randomly.

Jili Up has taken this beloved game and brought it online without removing any of what makes it special. The rules are the same, the pace is the same, and the competitive feeling of outsmarting two real opponents is exactly what you'd expect. The only difference is that instead of coins and crumpled bills on a plastic table, you're playing for real PHP with instant GCash payouts waiting when you win.

For players who want to take their Tongits game seriously, Jili Up's level and ranking system tracks your progress over time. As you win more hands and climb the tiers, you unlock better table access, lower rake rates, and eventually entry into exclusive VIP tournaments. It's the kind of progression system that rewards the kind of dedicated Filipino Tongits player who's been honing their skills since they were teenagers watching their lolo dominate the neighbourhood game.

🧠 Strategy

Tips to Win More at Tongits on Jili Up

Watch the Discard Pile Closely

The discard pile tells you a lot about what your opponents are holding. If a card they desperately need is sitting there and they're not picking it up, either they already have that meld complete or they're trying to mislead you. Paying attention to these signals is a big part of reading the table on Jili Up's online interface, even without physical tells to read.

Don't Over-Meld Early

Laying down melds too early shows your opponents exactly where you're headed and lets them block you by holding the cards you need. Sometimes it's better to sit on a strong meld for a few extra turns and let your opponents commit first. Then you can lay everything down and control the Fight timing.

Know When to Call a Fight

Calling a Fight is one of the most powerful moves in Tongits — but timing matters. If your unmelded cards total less than 10, you're in a strong position to call. If an opponent seems close to a Tongits, calling Fight preemptively might be your only way to win the pot before they go out.

Manage Your Buy-In Budget

On Jili Up, it's easy to keep joining new tables after a tough run. Set yourself a session limit before you start. If you lose three consecutive pots, step away and come back with a clear head. Tongits rewards sharp thinking — tilt is your biggest enemy, not your opponents' cards.

Use Speed Tables to Sharpen Your Decision-Making

Speed Tongits on Jili Up gives you 20 seconds per turn instead of the usual 30–45 seconds. It sounds stressful, but playing speed tables regularly forces you to make decisions faster and more instinctively. Many top-ranked Jili Up Tongits players credit speed tables for dramatically improving their game.
